What to look for when buying a PC?

When buying a PC, a few key components are important:

Processor (CPU)
The CPU is the brain of your PC. It determines how fast programs run and how well your system can multitask.

Graphics Card (GPU)
Crucial for gaming, 3D programs, and high resolutions.

Random Access Memory (RAM)
More RAM ensures smooth operation with multiple programs simultaneously.

Storage (SSD)
An SSD provides fast loading times and an overall responsive system.

Cooling & Power Supply
Important for stability and a long lifespan of your PC.

What to look for in gaming PCs?

Gaming PCs primarily need a powerful graphics card and a fast processor.

  • Graphics card – determines FPS and graphics quality
  • CPU – important for stable framerates
  • RAM – at least 16 GB for modern games
  • SSD – for short loading times
  • Cooling – important for high performance

If you want to play modern games at high or ultra settings, you should pay particular attention to the GPU and CPU.

Nvidia or AMD Graphics Card? Which is right for me?

Both manufacturers offer powerful GPUs; the difference often lies in features.

Nvidia Graphics Cards

  • very strong ray tracing performance
  • DLSS technology for more FPS
  • very popular for high-end gaming

AMD Graphics Cards

  • often strong price-performance ratio
  • lots of VRAM in many models
  • very good raster performance

In short:

  • High-End Gaming & Ray Tracing → Nvidia
  • Price-Performance & lots of VRAM → AMD

Intel or AMD processor?

Again, there's no overall winner here; both are strong contenders.

Intel CPUs

  • very good gaming performance
  • strong single-core performance
  • popular for gaming PCs

AMD CPUs

  • very efficient
  • often many cores for multitasking
  • strong in productivity and streaming

For gaming, both brands are excellently suited.

How much RAM do I need?

RAM influences how smoothly your PC can handle multiple programs simultaneously.

8 GB RAM
– sufficient for simple office tasks

16 GB RAM
– ideal for gaming and multitasking

32 GB RAM or more
– useful for streaming, editing, or professional applications

For most users, 16 GB is currently the best standard.
